An Ode to The One Who Saved Me
When I was little I repeatedly heard the phrase 'Thank God'
used to show relief and gratitude.
People often turn to God when they need reassurance -
I have come to learn that sometimes in life,
reassurance is all that we need.
At the age of 13 my aunt took me on;
Crippling depression, severe social anxiety,
underlying suicidal tendancies and all.
For the following 6 years she held me
through every upset, wiped every tear.
Thanks to my Aunt I have
(almost) made it out of my teens
with a build up of some minor scar
tissue and masses pretty cool memories.
So Whenever i have the erge
to show gratitude or any sort of relief,
I thank my aunt.
for not only putting up with me but
putting me back together when those around
me failed to be the support
I truly needed.
I thank her for being the one person I
could always turn to and for being the plug
that stopped me from dripped away,
disappearing without so much of a whisper.
used to show relief and gratitude.
